I'd like to know what you guys think is the optimal amount of time to spend per passage on each section?

I tend to not read most of the passages in GChem and Physics, so I go quicker on those (about 5-7 minutes, average being 6).

The bio and ochem take me about 7-8 minutes.

I don't recall my timing on VR though.

So.... yeah 😕

It's simple math. You get 70 minutes for PS and BS. Usually discretes take no more than 1 minute each (and if one takes unusually long, you will definitely also have a few quick ones to compensate). So that's 13 minutes there. Down to 57 minutes remaining. Divided by 7 passages, you're at about 8 minutes per passage. Some will take a little longer than others. You seem to be good with PS, but work on your BS timing because your test day nerves will probably be a factor in slowing you down. Shaving off time will give you more time to go over marked/skipped questions too.

Verbal. 60 minutes/7 passages = 8 minutes per passage to read and answer all the questions. Try to aim for 6-7 minutes per passage in your practices. The real MCAT passages are longer than AAMCs and harder than Kaplan, so if you get to a point where you have like 5 minutes remaining in your practice VR test, you'll probably be able to compensate for the longer passages on test day.

Cool thanks, that cleared it up for me.

Also, is there a way to rep people on here?

If not, here you go: 👍👍

I would also say...

Some passages on the real deal, took me 20 minutes. Some took me 2 minutes.

Don't budget time according to passages. However, if you're spending an obscene amount of time. Mark it, and move on. Answer everything you can. Then come back to it.

I vaguely remember one passage having 80,000 different things going on. It was disguised as difficult, but just needed some time to sort out. After that... piece of cake.

I had one like that in practice and it looked tough till i started to read it (i usually don't).. the questions took under 30 seconds a piece..

Thanks for the advice 👍👍

I needa take a FL soon 😀 I wanna know how I'm doing.

On my BR passages after content review, i'm getting consistent 10-12's.. hope that translates well.
