When practicing passages in PS and BS, how long should I spend for each passage? Also, do you guys read the questions or the passage first? Thanks!

Skim the passage, you should be able to quickly determine if it's a straightforward one on a familiar topic or a curveball on something you've not seen much before (there's usually one or two weird, dense passages per section). If it's a weird one, really read it.

Then do the problems, referring to the passage as needed. Total time per should be about 7 minutes on average (that leaves you a few extra minutes for the tougher passages and double checking the toughest problems). Discretes should be like 30 seconds each.

Try read the passage and do the questions within 6-7 mins. For verbal, stick to around 8-9. The key is to do practice passages every day and to time yourself whenever you practice.

You must explore available strategies to ensure you get one that works for you, but whatever one you go with your timing will be the same. Aim for around 8 minutes on AVERAGE. Some will take longer, some will take shorter, but 8 minutes is a good benchmark for your average time per passage.
