just curious how many interviews your school allows you to go on (i.e. how many days per rotation are you allowed to miss?).

I guess it depends on your school. My school does not have a set limit, but they are aware that you will have to definitely miss some days. However, at my school it largely depends on what rotation or elective you are on and how willing they are to allow you to miss. Here, they are pretty understanding and it is expected that you will have to miss some time. You can always offer to make the time up and I am sure most people will be understanding, as they were once in our position. Hope this helps.

I think a lot of schools have a tacit assumption that you will be taking at least one (if not more) of the prime interview months off. I took off both "december" (which was mid november to mid december) and january (which was actually january) off, but did all but two of my interviews during that mid november-mid december block.

thanks for the responses. we're "allowed" 3 absences from any in system rotations for interviews. our school sets up vacation time a bit differently (and we only get 2 weeks).

we have about 16 weeks vacation built into 4th year. i used 2 to study for step 2 and am using 6 for interviews. the rest will allow me to finish rotations about 6 weeks before graduation. our administration basically TOLD us to use our time off for interviews, although lots of people schedule an easy rotation where they don't care about absences, instead.

I had 2 months off during my MS-IV year - December and January. I did all my interviews (around 20) then.

It hurt a lot since holiday season travel is so expensive.

ask the coordinator of your rotation

it could be anywhere from zero to 30 days per rotation, depending on various factors....
