didnt do all ur secondaries. I applied to 40 schools, have 4 rejections, already did 25 secondaries but felt so burnt out that I didnt do 5 of my secondaries as their deadlines passed.....i feel so bad cuz i wasted 150 bucks on those schools....

i sent my AMCAS app to 23 schools, but only completed 20 secondaries. and i wouldn't have applied to nearly as many schools if i had known i would have been lucky enough to have an acceptance in hand in october. but you can't predict these things so no use in trying. yes, i feel like i wasted money too but i figure it's better to apply to too many schools than too few.

Applied to 11 schools...didnt do the Yale secondary.

I never finished the Duke secondary. Holy cow, that thing was long. 4 of my secondaries didn't have any essays. 🙂

Don't worry about it. It's all pocket change, provided you solidify a spot somewhere. Good luck on your remaining active files!

I was feeling totally guilty about not completing all my secondaries but I am soooo sick of writing essays! I have four rejections, three interviews, and nine completed apps pending the interview invite/rejection. Should I bite the bullet and complete the rest of the secondaries or is it so late in the game now that even if I do complete them, I've missed out? The schools I haven't done yet and were contemplating are: JHU, Georgetown, and Charles Drew/UCLA.

I didn't do it this year, but last year I applied to 28 schools and sent back only 9 secondaries. Some of them didn't send me a secondary, some of them did and I didn't return them. This year though I sent all 11 secondaries that I got from all 11 schools that I applied to.

I applied to 36 schools. I recieved 33 secondaries, and turned in 27 right away. I just turned in 2 more today, and I'll do two more tommorrow. The rest were all done by september.

This post motivated me to turn in the final ones.

HA. i got you all beat. I sent out 44 primary applications. after getting sick of doing them, and getting my mcat score, i decided not to do the really crappy schools i'd applied to, or the schools with pain in the a%% secondaries. Also i applied to 9 more schools (initially had applied to 35). of those 9, i didn't do some because i missed the deadlines, and some were just too annoying to fill out. the essay writing process really jaded me, and after a while everything you write seems like BS. i don't like that, so i didn't do it. so..44 primaries. and only 30 secondaries. i take the cake at a whopping $420 dollars wasted. damn, i hadn't calculated that until now, or realized how many apps i didn't fill out. that really bums me out. who's idea was this anyway!!!

I also didn't and don't plan to complete a handful of secondaries. Here are some of the schools I didnt' complete secondaries for:

Kansas Med., Mount Sinai, Jefferson, Iowa, Cornell, and Hopkins.

What's even more wasteful is sending back secondaries with an application fee and then turning down an interview invite. Or even worse paying a ton of loot to fly out for an interview and then finding out you'd rather not go there. That seems much more wasteful than the money lost applying through AAMC and not returning a secondary.

I didn't complete the Iowa or Albany secondaries. Was it me or was Iowa's on-line secondary a real pain in the ass? I could never get the IEF's printed out so I figured, screw it.

I applied to 10 schools and completed 10 secondaries. Since I only have one interview so far I fear that I applied to far too few schools.

I didn't finish secondaries to 10 of the schools that I applied to initially (I indicated 27 schools on my AMCAS) I took the Aug. MCAT so I wanted to get the ball rolling before my scores came back in.. figured it was better to apply to too many than not enough...$300 down the drain is a much happier prospect than being forced to deal with AMCAS again next year 😛 (wishful thinking... I am still waiting for a fat envelope from somewhere... ANYwhere!)

I applied to 12 schools. I received 11 secondaries, and complete 10 of them. 🙄

I applied to 24 AMCAS schools, plus 2 non-AMCAS. I Competed secondaries at all schools except Wake (didn't feel like it 🙂 ) and UNC (haven't gotten it yet 🙁 ).

I applied to 17 schools, but didn't complete Boston U (all they wanted was $100 and a photo), UVA, and Oregon.

The only secondary I did not complete of the 12 (AMCAS) schools I applied to was... La Universidad Central Del Caribe (Puerto Rico). This was mainly because every piece of the secondary was in espa?ol. 🙂 As I read the letter inviting me to apply (deciphered it, rather), I decided that medical school would be hard enough as it is without having to translate my textbooks. I may be somewhat fluent, but I'm not loco. 😱

40 schools? Damn! What would you say was the average number of schools to apply to? I was thinking more along the line s of 10-15! How much does it cost ito apply to so many?

I initially applied to 27 schools but only filled out 17 secondaries. As I began visiting schools, I gained a better sense of what I wanted in a medical school, the surrounding environment/community, etc. Of course, part of it was due to secondary burnout as well. 😉

sending secondaries to 44 schools, which i didn't do all at once, but instead added along the way (3 times total), cost me 43 x $30 + $150. so it was a LOT of money. not sendign to 14 schools saved SO much more in secondaries though...although i shouldn't have been so damn lazy. nobody should neglect THAT many secondaries. still, 30 schools is a lot to apply to. secs ran about 2.5 K

I didn't fill out secondaries to USA and George Wash. I sent my AMCAS to 17 schools thinking that I'd go to any med school that would accept me. Now I've changed my mind. I'm not ready to go back to the South. 😀
