I want to see how many underdogs there are out there.

I posted this before in the pre-med forums, and they complained that it should be a private poll.....so now it is.

this is a poorly made poll...

I am in the current cycle, with a less than 3.0.

CHANCES are very slim. i have a 22/23/16 DAT. i got one interview at state school, no response from BU n NYU.

unless u have ur bachelors already or a hell of a lot of community service hours/leadership, i dont see ur chances looking all too great.

I am in the current cycle as well, with a 2.98 cum gpa and 3.27 science gpa...

I had a DAT of 22/22/21 and all the necessary experiences and very good job experiences...

I also believed that i wrote a good solid personal statement with 5 Letters of Rec.

was interviewed at 5 different schools, including 3 state schools that are not my state.

offered 2 acceptances with some files still open...keep working hard and highlight your strengths in your application...

You made my day a little better just now.

I applied late November for the current cycle with a 2.7 GPA with a BA in compsci, DAT 24/23/22, 5 letters of recommendation, lots of leadership/community service, plently of working/shadowing hours for oral surgeons/general dentists.

Columbia didn't show any love and I haven't heard back from other schools yet. Chances are looking pretty slim 🙁

And your contribution to this thread is.....................?

anyway... Sinned, what kind of work/EC's did you do prior before applying?

ok, here are my contributions since you asked...

1) why would you make one of your poll options "i have not and will not apply"?! this is a pre-dental forum! obviously almost everybody here applied or will apply to dental school. what information does this option give you? apparently 15% of people sub 3.0 aren't going to bother applying to dental school, but enjoy participating in pre-dental polls 😕

2) why didn't you ask how many people have a gpa above 3.0? don't you think this would give you a better idea of the ratio between qualified and unqualified applicants? (this comment will annoy some sub 3.0 people -- but come on people, college is easy!)

3) if your gpa is below 3.0, your chances of getting into dental school are slim to none. it's harsh, but true. 3.5 is quickly becoming the new minimum!

in other news, it's the weekend! let's all go get a drink!!

2.98/3.32 (overall/sci) 19/20/19.... I am in. Read the under the 3.0 club thread. Lots of people make it in with a low GPA.

"lots of people" is pretty misleading. "a few people" is a much more accurate assessment.

also, i spoke to the adcom at Florida and apparently SuperC got in on his good looks 👍

i dunno about that, but his sci. gpa is pretty good. i dunno if u qualify for under 3.0 club superc! 😉

More decisive indicator is the science gpa or bcp gpa. I believe schools give more merit to the science gpa than the overall.

Are you crazy? Why did you reject NYU?

I had already received my Temple acceptance, and would rather go there.
