I can't seem to find this info anywhere. Just wanted to know how many people apply to dental school and how many dentists there are in the U.S.? Thanks

I heard that last cycle there were 8000+ applicants. Not sure how accurate it is though.

I too would like to know the number. Also, if anyone has info on dental school acceptance rates I would apprecite it.

Thanks

Do a search.

I saw on another thread that somewhere around 8,000 people apply and about half of that many matriculate.

If only approximately 4k enroll and the same or somewhere around that number graduate, then that is very few which is a very good thing. I used to want to do law and 40k graduate a year. Imagine 40 thousand dentists every year lol!!

Think about it - 8000+ applicants vying for ~4500 seats. If you would like some more information about the subject, below is a link to an article that outlines this subject and discusses other applicant trends. It is almost four years old and at the time of publication the number of dental applicants was declining. From what I can tell and from what I have been told, this trend is reversing and each year since the number of applicants has been increasing - along with their stats.
