As the title says. I am sure it is different for each test... but give or take, how many correct out of 40 is equal to a 10?

Is it 30?

(I am slowly... SLOWLY improving my verbal score and still have not gotten 30 /40 correct yet)

30-32 questions correct usually equates to a 10 on the MCAT verbal reasoning section.

Normally 28-29 right gets you a 9 and 33-35 gets you an 11.

On the AAMC practice tests this is the case. But on the real thing, it can vary drastically, and we'll never know (since scales aren't released). Some verbals are much harder with generous scales, some may be easier with similar to AAMC scales. So while consistently scoring a 10 on AAMC tests does correlate to scoring in that range on the real thing, don't necessarily think on test day that you have some sort of leeway of questions to get a 10.

Agreed with the above. The AAMC practice test scales are pretty harsh... for the double digit scores, one missed question drops your score by a point (roughly). However, verbal varies so widely that there's no way you'll be able to predict what the scale will be like for the real test.

This is the scale from AAMC CBT #10, it should serve as a good reference point.
