how many practice tests do you think is adequate? and how often?

I think more the better or when you feel confident. I am still doing my content review but taking my first practice test this Sunday. I don't take my test until Jan so trying to spread it out and doing practice passages in between. So I think it matters when you are taking yours and how confident you feel. If you need more practice take more tests. It is always good to take more tests but don't burn out.

I did 7 (2 EK, 3 NS, AAMC sample and AAMC scored). I did them like every other weekend. I felt like I had the routine down pretty well and thought that was a decent number of practice tests.

Agreed. I did 13 including AAMC tests.

All AAMC stuff and about 3-6 other FL. Depending on your time and the sanity you have.
