    This one i heard:

Three. One to put in the lightbulb and two to yank the ladder out from underneath him.

    Mine:

Zero. Pre-meds can't actually do anything useful. Go ask an engineer.

:) Yeah, that's what I heard too, except I thought that was for surgeons, not pre-meds. Close enough I guess.

Non. Until they are told by Adcoms that screwing in a light bulb is one of the best EC's to have to insure your acceptance into a Top 10 school.

    Twenty-two.

    - Two to serve on the Dorm Life Council and institute DormWatch, an innovative lighting maintenance program that was profiled in the Burgville Times
    - One to campaign for campus-wide adoption of "eco friendly" low-wattage fluorescent bulbs, which burn out less often
    - Two to organize a bake sale to help fund lighting relief efforts
    - Three to co-found Citizens for a Brighter World, a nonprofit dedicated to light bulb awareness
    - Five to lead CBW chapters on their own campuses
    - One to design a pamphlet on light exposure and Seasonal Affective Disorder for their campus health center
    - Seven to write personal statements describing the struggles and ultimate shining rebirth of the light bulb as a metaphor for their own journey towards medicine
...and one to go get the janitor, since they didn't go to school for 16 years to fix a bloody light bulb.

HA! Sunflower, that's funny. And here's one for BrettBachelor:

one to purchase a Costco membership and buy the bulbs in bulk since that would be the most economical approach seeing as how this bulb is bound to burn out again.

So briefly, here is my story:

I am a 31 year old white male with a 75 watt bulb. The bulb is burned out, and I would like to replace it. What do you think my odds of actually getting the new bulb into this lamp are? A brief summary:

    1 summer shadowing lightbulb-changers
A low GPA, but a slight upward trend (3.4) indicating I am hopefully dedicated enough to accomplish a task like this.
I answered a few questions on the MCAT about lightbulbs correctly

I am worried because I have not published anything about changing lightbulbs - will this affect my ability to change this bulb? HELP!!! I am tired of being in the dark.

    I love Flop's!

Because I'm a geek, I went back to the original thread and found my answer from there:

Roughly 100, since 99 won't be able to make it into the room with the burnt bulb.

    1 to screw it in

2 to inquire whether screwing in the most preferred lightbulb brand matters when you have a cheaper lesser-known bulb in hand.

and finally 5 to assure you that in the long run, the type of bulb you screw in matters little if you plan to practice your lightbulb screwing privately.

As long as there's a mode for checking that the bulb has been put in (emailing, calling the Lightbulbisscrewedin Office or better yet, a status page), the number will continue to increase.

Don't forget the pre-meds who are 4+ years away from even applying for the opportunity to screw in lightbulbs.
