It's slightly concerning that you do not know what a "major" is. Pre-dentistry is not a major.

Anyway. With your stats, you should be OK with less than 10.

Get some more volunteering in there in the meantime. 50 hours is a joke.

I think applying to 8-10 schools will be enough. Your GPA and DAT score are both great. Only thing would be to up your volunteer hours to over 100 hours. Your shadowing general dentists is enough so you don't have to shadow anymore if you don't have time. If you do have time to shadow, I'd try shadowing some specialists to broaden your view on dentistry.

Technically at my school Pre-Dentistry is a major and it will show up on my diploma when I graduate. It's essentially a biology major, but I get way more flexibility with the upper level science courses I get to take. Appreciate the response though.

Some one must be having a bad day. But ya with your stats I would aim for about 10, definitely not 15. you have got a good range of schools as well as far as avg stats go. I had around the same DAT as you (21 AA/TS) , but a way lower sgpa (3.2) I applied to 15 and had to decline 3 interviews bc I had 3 acceptances. So I think 10 is a better number for you! If you can, get some more volunteer hours like people posted above. I found an organization that went to honduras for week to provide free dental care. I got loads of volunteer hours and got some great dental experience as well. Schools really liked it too, I was asked about it in every interview. That being said....10 schools is good and you will have no problem getting interviews. Good luck!

Everything looks solid, except like above posters said, get some more volunteering hours. Doesn't even have to be dentistry or healthcare related, just find something you like doing before now and summer and add some hours to it

I had very similar stats and applied to 12 schools, interviewed at 6, and got accepted to 2 schools on December 3rd and waitlisted at 2 others. I think 10-12 schools is a good range. Keep in mind, however, secondary application fee's and the cost of traveling to interviews.

You should apply to 9-10 schools where you really want to go and try add in some more volunteering hours.

10.

Don’t be like me, I applied to 15 and received 13 interviews. I only went to 7 of them lol

You got a solid application! I think you're applying to a good amount of schools but you might want to apply to 10-12 in case some do not work out. :) xoxo
