So here I am sitting, simmering, waiting for my MCAT scores to come in so I can confidently prove to myself that the 6 I won in the verbal lottery was in deed a fluke and not an indication that I'm illiterate.....also, I am trying to figure out how many schools I should apply to. I'm a Michigan resident so I am definately going to apply to all the schools in Michigan, but where else should I apply? What are the rest of you future med. students doing?

What's your GPA, ECs, etc? In any event, in my opinion, 10 is the absolute fewest number of schools anybody should apply to. 20 is probably a very comfortable number for the average applicants with average stats who maybe wants a few choices. I tend to recommend applying to LOTS of schools because I've seen so many extremely qualified people only apply to 6 or 8 or 9 schools and not get in anywhere. Part of this is luck.

Yes I definetly agree, apply to 20+ schools, and don't despair I got a 7 in verbal and still got into med school this year. I would recommend that you add these to your list:

Albany med (I heard someone with a 5 in verbal got in)
Wayne State
NYMC
Chicago Medical School
GW
SLU
and your state school/s

MOST IMPORTANTLY APPLY EARLY!!!!!
