How many words should my fellowship personal statement be?

I'm coming from Psych, so I know pain guys are less...."reflective"

But seriously, I'm aiming for 500 words/1 page, but worry thats too long?

I'd keep it to 66% to 75% of a single page in 11 or 12 point font. Fellowship director is busy, make it concise. They will be interested in the psych background, will want to know "why pain" and "why do you want to touch your patients again" (procedures vs. cognitive specialties). I think psych is a great background to be a pain doc.
