I appreciate any advice. I decided to take the Apr MCAT, and I am a junior now. I certainly don't want to take too many classes, I probably take only biochem and other easy classes.
Question: people told me to take biochem AND genetics before trying mcat. This means if I take gentics spring along with biochem then I will not have time for apr MCAT and I have to push it back to Aug, and I probably take no class in summer to prep real good. However, Aug seems late.
I am confused? What is your opinion. Is a good score in Aug better or a ok score in April? What would you have done

PLEASE let me know

genetics and biochem are certainly not needed for the mcat bs section. i would take it in april as long as you have the biology, g-chem, o-chem, and physics courses done with.

instead of taking biochem or genetics, why not just practice aamc tests and study the bs section on your own with a prep book?

Most bio and organic chem classes cover all the biochem and genetics that you would see on the MCAT, so if you have taken the basic prereqs (i.e. not genetics or biochem) you should do fine. If the bio or orgo classes at your undergrad were deficient, you may have some studying to do -- you should be able to pick up the extra stuff in a TPR or Kaplan course though, rather than in a college level biochem or genetics class. As for Aug vs April, there is some disadvantage in a rolling admissions process in having your application complete later, but certainly if you do significantly better in Aug than April, it was worth the delay. High scorers in August still usually get into med school, but low scorers in April don't tend to fare that well. (But if you still score low in August, it wasn't worth the wait 🙄 .)
