is there a rough breakdown of grades to board scores when applying to residency? how much is the difference between a student who passes all the scores and one that honors and high passes them all?

Step 1 scores act as a tie-breaker for competitive specialties, otherwise it's mostly your performance in the 3rd year. 1st and 2nd year grades may get you into AOA for extra resume padding, and at some schools profs may put in a letter for exceptional performance (e.g. if you honored anatomy at my school, you used to get a letter from the anatomy prof in your file).

Don't think of it as "I just need X percent to pass." Think about how much it's humanly possible for you to learn on a continual basis. Remember, it's not like college anymore. The more you know, not only will it be better for you but better for those who put their truth, and lives, in you. 👍

They matter. Grades determine AOA. AOA determines your residency.

They matter

I have spoken with various residency directors and in a nutshell the grades for 1st and 2nd are low on the list vs usmle and 3rd and 4th.
