Just curious how much is your undergraduate tuition. How much scholarships, aids, etc. are you receiving for your undergraduate education? I go to a relatively small school and a few scholarships but I'm blown away by the fact some people spend hundreds of thousands on Ivy league education and then go to medical school and rack up all that debt.

$200 per credit (yay to public education). Oh, and I don't pay anything due to various financial aid..

Sticker price: about $60k/yr (I'm including room and board and fees because you are required to pay all of those, no off-campus housing, must have meal plan).
Price to me: $2k/yr, no loans.

A lot of the most expensive schools have the best aid.

25k/year after scholarship which really isn't that bad for a public university compared to how much other people actually pay.

A decent private university with sticker price ~50k/year, but my tuition came down to 5k after scholarships and unsubsidized stafford loans. Not a lot borrowed, I decided that I wouldn't go to any school that would make me take out more than 20k for the four years.

Graduated from WUSTL which was about $50-55k per year, no loans, no scholarships, no financial aid. My parents adamantly refused to fill out FAFSA and paid monthly until I was out of there. They offered to pay for med school too.

Tuition is $26,000 a year at my small, private college. I am extremely lucky and received a full-tuition scholarship due to leadership and community activities in high school. So thankful to have been given the award.

I ended up taking out $22k in loans for all 4 years and probably received $15k in refund checks which I used for food and rent

Out-of-state student at my institution is usually $24k/year. In state is around $14k/year. With financial aid and scholarships I got out of state waivered and I'm only paying about $8k/year with no loans.

Sticker price for everything is $64,000. I pay $20k and I go to an Ivy league school. Ivy league schools are actually a lot cheaper for students receiving financial aid as they are the most generous in their grant aid. Anyone whose parents income is under 60k goes for completely free here.

$45,XXX divided by 3 each quarter = $15,XXX

Financial aid covers a lot of it (75%) which is the pro of top schools.

Same here! 🙂

Total Price is 60K, but I end up paying 15-20K. Pretty sweet deal.

5k for two years - that's with merit scholarships

I don't have to pay yet. I take out roughly $6500 in loans per year.

Large Midwestern Public University

Yearly Tuition(+fees) sticker price: $15,000
Yearly Merit Based Aid: $9,500
Financial based Aid: $1,000
My price: $4,500 per year

That does NOT include housing which of course can be quite substantial. In my case, housing was about 6-7 grand a year.

Went to a public liberal arts college on full scholarship and worked part time. Got through with no loans, no parental contributions.

Now starting to set up a 529 to pay my baby niece's college tuition starting in 2032. (I don't have kids of my own.) I'm looking to cover in-state tuition and hopefully have some extra to help out a bit with other educational expenses. But if she decides she wants to go to a fancy private school, she's going to have to pay the tuition difference herself, 'cause our state schools were good enough for both of her parents and for me.

About 17k a semester. Public state school. I got pell and state grants, majority paid for with loans. So I owe 52k now that it's all over

I graduated in 2006 but I had a full athletic scholarship for my last three years. First year I got a scholarship for the last quarter. I also worked two jobs to pay for rent and groceries.

Private top tier: COA is 74k everything save 5k (subsidized loan) is scholarship.

State school COA was around 40k only got financial aid to cover half of that, 20k ish, and 10k of that were loans. (Per year for two years)
