Like yzf said, just figure out how much you need and stick to it on the night before the MCAT. Getting more sleep than you normally do could end up making you feel more tired than alert.

One other thing to keep in mind: as my TPR teacher said, MCAT week isn't the time to go cold turkey on any addictions you might have (not that you'd have any 🙄 )

You may not sleep very well the night before the test... my advice is to get as much extra sleep as you can 2 nights before... it helps. Good luck!

I started going to bed at 10 pm a week before the MCAT. The night before I went to bed at 10 but probably fell asleep at 12.

As long as you get 6-7 you should be fine. Taking the MCAT is like playing in a really competitive game; all the fatigue come rushing in AFTER the test is over.

That's why you need to eat small meals throughout the day. Try some DARK chocolate in between the writing sample and the Bio section.

Try to sleep. I got a massage the day before, had one glass of red wine and woke up bolt upright at 4am. Just went with it.

You'll be fine. Cheers, and good luck :luck:

i think i'm going to try to be dependent on sleeping pills a week before the mcat. i noticed that if i suddenly take it after abstaining from it for a while, i feel groogy the whole day. i really hope i don't feel like crap during test day. :scared:

For my practice tests, I've noticed a significant jump in my scores on test days when the night before I drive an hour away to party, and drive back and get home late...

I've taken 4 full lengths thus far.. two I partied... two I didnt. the two I partied my scores went way up. Nights when I got in bed early and slept well, scores went down.

I'm getting superstitious about this now.

Adrenaline goes a long way, but you need some sleep. If you're worried about sleeping the night before, I'd experiment. I took the MCAT twice. In April, I didn't sleep at all the night before. Tossed and turned all night. It sucked. For August, I took Ambien and got a good night's sleep.

I'd advise keeping with your normal routine. Example: In high school I took the ACT on 3 hours sleep, showed up at the VERY last minute, didn't eat breakfast, forgot a pencil, and had a good hangover. I scored a 32 (36 science reasoning, which I'm still proud of). This was more or less my routine in high school. Then I thought I'd try again doing what they tell you to do. Good night's sleep, good breakfast, show up early, and I scored a 28.

While I'm not exactly advising that you show up late with a hangover I'm just saying don't do something drasticly different in your routine.
