Hello, I had taken General chemistry one as a freshman at a top 20 university and received a C-. I then retook this class my senior year, and due to a rough semester with personal problems, I received a C- again. I am a college graduate now and I am applying for Fall 2021. I am looking into retaking gen chem 1 again at my local community college for this summer so I am able to apply to more schools. Would this be okay and would you recommend it?
I think my recommendation depends on what your GPA, science GPA, and MCAT are. Would you mind sharing so I can properly advise you? Although keep in mind that some medical schools will not accept a grade below a C in the pre-requisites, so you may be out of luck.

My overall GPA is 3.2, I havent calculated my science GPA yet. I am planning on taking the MCAT in August. I understand that they don't accept C- or lower so that is why I was wondering if retaking at my community college would be okay since i just graduated from my university

I would not do this at a community college hospital. I would take the course at a four year college to prove that you can handle the rigor of medical school.

Edit: Dr. Brain kicked in. Hospital => college

I agree you should really try to take it at a 4-year. If you had a few other courses that we not prerequisites I would feel those would be ok at a community college, but a core course like chem you should take at a 4 year and prove you can do well. Especially after you took it twice and didn’t do well. Taking it at a CC won’t prove anything.

Agreed. An A at a community college after two C-'s at a university might raise eyes about the rigor of the CC course, justifiably or not.
