How to be a strong applicant to UDM as a canadian?

Other than good gpa and dat, what would make me stand out as a canadian? the reason I so badly want UDM is because i'm just across the border of michigan and I live about 3 miles away from the university so I'd want to stay living with my parents lol. I would appreciate some stats on canadians applying to UDM. any leadership/research? Do my LoRs have to be from 2 science profs or would I be able to go by with a LoR from a comp science prof?

Also, would it be okay if i could email UDM on how to be a strong applicant for them?
