How many posts do u need in order to become a senior member? Are there any benefits to becoming a senior member (frequent flyer miles, charge account, company car, time share, etc.)? Just wondering.

You need 50 posts to become a senior member. And 2000 to become a Grand Member. :)

50 to become a senior member, 2000 to become a grand member. Possible perks are respect from fellow SDNers and being part of the History of SDN (in the lounge). Plus a lot of invaluable information on getting into medschool that you won't get anywhere else in such an entertaining, addictive format!!! :D

If you check out the thread about being addicted to SDN, you'll read that it takes fifty posts to become a senior member and I think 2000 (!!) to become a grand member.

Perks include matriculation at the medical school of your choice and the opportunity to moon the admissions committees at the schools you didn't get into (if any).

In case you didn't see the first 3 responses, 50 to be a senior member, 2000 to be a grand member! But I think that there are only about 4 or so grand member, right?

everyone is just trying to rack up posts aren't they?!!

I believe the right response to the question is:
50 to be a senior member, 2000 to be a grand member.

If anyone needs me to post is again, let me know.

nb81,

Did you get that?

wait, 50 to be a senior member, right?

I don't know if anyone has answered you, yet, but it's 50 posts to become a senior member and 2000 posts to become a grand member

Also... on a more practical level, don't you have to be a senior member to be able to post a poll??

Can't anyone give me a direct answer to my question (for anyone challenged in the common sense department, i'm being facetious)!!!!!!!!!!!!

50 posts = senior member?!?!?!?!

YES!!!! Only 16 more posts!!!

Just to be sure that we're all clear, I have compiled the responses thus far into a list:

1. You need 50 posts to become a senior member. And 2000 to become a Grand Member :)
2. 50 to become a senior member, 2000 to become a grand member.
3. If you check out the thread about being addicted to SDN, you'll read that it takes fifty posts to become a senior member and I think 2000 (!!) to become a grand member.
4. In case you didn't see the first 3 responses, 50 to be a senior member, 2000 to be a grand member!

7. Yes john, 50 to be a senior member, 2000 to be a grand member...you are right.
8. 50 - senior
2000 - grand

If you want to add to this list please make sure you use the quote button and don't cut and paste...I would absolutely hate it if the order got messed up

(Sorry, I'm very bored at work today)

Isn't this thread becoming kinda redundant? I just asked a simple question.

Okay, okay, 50 for Senior, 2000 for Grand...BUT WHAT'S NEXT? 3000 for Chief Member, 5000 for Master? 10,000 for Partnership???

....I think you need to ask the moderators or administrators...only they know the true answer.

Although I remember seeing the numbers 50 and 2000 on a thread, I am not sure which thread. If anybody knows what those two numbers represent or the thread I am referring to, can you please post the answer!!!

Thank you.

How about a cap or T-shirt with SDN on it for 3000 posts? Or free "Basic Scrubs?" Jamier2? Cobragirl? BTW, where's Foxy? Don't think she's "grand" yet...or is it "senior?"

the grand member status is not automatic. becoming a senior member status is automatic.

the administrators are the ones who give you the "grand member" status

I'm not so sure about this but some SDN regulars (i.e., Scooby) told me that an easy way to become a senior member is to have more than just "friendly" relations with high ranking SDN officials. I've also heard from some (i.e., Scooby) that this helps in the medical school application process.

I believe that there are currently two Grand Members - Scooby, and SMW. SMW was the first.

I think next in line will be Foxy, assuming she keeps posting at the rate she has been. Then, probably me. :) Gimme a month or two. After that, who knows??

Isn't there another status besides Senior member and Grand member?

I think one of the administrators has some nickname or something where the member status is usually written.

No, I'm not trying to pad my posts. Not at all.

There should be another title for somebody with 3000 posts...I offer the title "sensei" as a suggestion.

wow, come back from lunch and this thread is on page two...and I like the quote, bjc, but which one is the free lay state? I haven't had action in a while

Well, all the administrators have a different status. For most of them, it says "Administrator". For Jaimer, it says "Grand Hillbilly". :)

And there is nothing between "Senior Member" and "Grand Member". Despite my campaigning for something at 1000 posts...
