How to gain experience as MPH student?

Hello all,

I will start my MPH studies this Fall, concentrating in global epidemiology. In the meantime, I am looking for jobs that I can start now and continue throughout graduate school. Any ideas?

Here is what I have considered thus far:

• Graduate Assistantship (Ideal, of course)
• Local Hospital (what position am I eligible for?)
• Local Health Clinic (what position am I eligible for?)
• Study Abroad Internships (only useful in the summer)

Where you are located makes a huge difference. For example, in the DC metro region there's a TON of policy groups, government organizations, and NGOs that you might work for.


You could also reach out to professors in your department, explain your background and interests, and ask if they have any projects they need student help on. Most schools offer very few of the full-time student/staff positions but often you're able to snag a part-time hourly position.
