Hii all,
I'm totally naive about how to get into a Pharmacy intern job and when. DO anyone know when I can apply as a pharmacy intern in PA? Also , I have no prior pharmacy experience. So, can I try directly as a Pharmacy intern or do I have to be a pharm. tech. first?

Please ppl, I need this information.
Thanks a lot

does anyone know if you need a pharm. tech degree to work as a pharm. tech in pa. cause in indiana you need a degree in order to work in a pharmacy and since i am moving to pa i wanted to know their rules.

no prior rx experience needed to be a tech in PA. just talk to the pharmacy manager and let them know you are going to rx school. we love interns....you won't have any trouble. 👍

You don't need a DEGREE. You might need a certificate, but I don't think you do in PA.

If you want a job, just call up Rite Aid, CVS, whatever, and talk to the district manager, tell them you are accepted to school, and they'll trip over themselves to get you a job.

um....like I said:

just being a pre-pharm won't get the DM's attention. talk to the rx manager. case closed.

DMs often do the intern hiring whereas pharmacy managers tend to hire techs. The DMs would probably be the best place to start if you are looking for a position which can convert to an intern position. Companies usually prefer to place you in a higher volume store with pharmacisits who have experience training interns. If you talk to managers only and they try to weasel you int he back door, you could end up in a position where you will not be able to continue once school begins. There are some politics involved, because in some chains interns are extra staff members paid for by corporate. Even when they aren't the DMs like to get to know them and hire them, because they feel that gives them the best chance of retaining you after graduaution.

Hii all ,

Thankyou all very much for your input. So , the best thing I can do now is to contact a district manager.
Thanks again people

i just got a position as a hospital pharm. tech. "extern" since I'm in my last year of pre pharm. After I become a P1, then they'll change it to an internship. Maybe you can try for something like that?

I'll have an intern license but I'll be technically on the payroll as a tech. I'll have more responsibility but as long as someone signs off that I'm a licensed intern, I think I'll be ok.

you might want to post you profile on some of the pharmacy job boards, such as elitepharmacyjobs.com. I'm sure you will get a great response from pharmacies.
