How to Get An Interview at Wake Forest

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Step 1: Get secondary and submit within 3 weeks

Step 2: Wait 3-4 weeks after submitting everything (you'll see that your status is complete online)

Step 3: Call and say "i would like to check on the status of my application" . . . you can use not getting a complete email (they say they'll send you one and they don't) as an excuse, but you don't even have to give one. I said the above quotation only.

-that's what typically works . . . not every time, but more than half the time

I didn't apply there but I heard that if you are being considered and you call to ask about your status, you can get an interview right over the phone.

Can I send an email instead of calling?

how are you still here

I called today to check on my status and they gave me an interview. She told me I was "in the top pool being considered for an interview, and we can just schedule one now, if I liked."

I also called about 3 weeks ago and they said my file was still being reviewed and I should call back in a few weeks.

So it seems like they welcome calls.

Calling is one of the things that got me in a couple years ago...

Wake really likes people who like them. If you really want to go there (which you should, because it's great), let them know that. I called, got an interview date, and then they called and gave me an earlier date. I interviewed pretty late and got wait-listed, but I wrote to them and told them I really wanted to go there. They let me in...worked for me. Good luck

Do they hate it if you call too much (like once a week)?

I'd give them 4 weeks to process your application after submitting everything (or just wait until your online status says you're complete + 1 week), then call and ask to hopefully get an interview. After that, I wouldn't call until after I had gotten a decision from them. If you get waitlisted, then start hammering away . . .

I called today (I was complete on Sept. 19 or so), and the lady just told me that they had all my stuff. No interview, but she didn't say they had reviewed my file yet either. Is this a bad sign? Should I call again in a few weeks if I haven't heard anything? I'm thinking about sending an update letter about an internship I am doing this semester; do you think that will be enough to show my interest? Thanks for any advice you have.

Can you do anything after your interview and before you hear anything from them? Does it help to send a letter or anything? Or should i just wait till after I hear in a couple of weeks?

If you would definitely, hands down, matriculate here you should send them a letter and call them to notify them of your great interest. If you are unsure, it would be a dick move to do so and you should just wait it out.

wow. i read this thread yesterday, and it worked. i called and well, they had an interview waiting for me 😳 i was really happy. you never know!

wake forest is a screener, right?

to get an interview at wakeforest-- wait for them to give you one. anyone ever heard of that?

It seems like most ppl got good news or neutral news when they called in to check their status.

I wonder if anyone called in, hoping to get an earlier interview invite, but instead got an earlier rejection over the phone? That would be sad, but at least you no longer need to wait and anticipate.

here's my theory:

if you've been complete for a while, and u call in and its neutral, it means you're no hold or rejected and they're too nice to tell you.

I called them. They said they have my complete application and that I'm in an interview pool. But, they are not choosing applicants from this pool to interview currently and told me to check my status in January??!!

Ouch.

Big Ouch.

😡

I just interviewed at Wake..the people were really nice...interview style is very unique...only 6 applicants are there at a time so very personal and then they do interviews like speed dating...3 interviews 15 minutes each...closed file...very interesting school

Hmm... I have been complete for about 3 weeks and called to "check my status" and they just told me that I'm "complete." lame...

Hey, that's exactly what happened to me. I called yesterday, and they just said I was complete, nothing about being under review or being in an interview pool or anything. I was complete about 3 weeks ago, as well. Hopefully this just means that the committee hasn't looked at our applications yet. What do you think?

wow...i didnt know I had to call...i was just periodically checking my "applicant portal", which states that interviews are by invite only via email or phone. I sorta assumed they would call me. Well...i guess I will be calling them pretty soon.

Is this the case with other schools too like UC's, Drexel, NYMC, etc???

bump......

nope it's not those other schools will e-mail you. in fact, most schools get really annoyed at applicants constantly calling in to ask.

This thread is actually VERY helpful. I had been complete for a few (1-2..) weeks and I just read this thread and called. Turns out I am in the 'top interview pool.' Then they tell me that they aren't going to start scheduling again until mid-November and that anyone in this 'top interview pool' CAN get an interview, but not all of them WILL get an interview. Translation: if you are in this group and call THEM you will get an interview.

I only wish I would have read this thread earlier.

I am confused now, I called wake and they said exactly what is stated in the "portal", that I will be contacted when an interview is granted. I have been complete for over a month now, but she didnt say I was rejected an interview and that they are still looking over my application. I guess I can take that as a positive. I dont have the best stats, so I am guessing that the top interview pool are above average for the school and those that are average are placed aside until all those who have higher qualifications are looked over (including the august mcaters). So I guess rolling admissions only works for those with the highest numbers and everyone else follows from there. This is only my opinion of course, but I received an automatic interview from another school, which I was above average for (numbers wise), which sorta supports my claim. Well, no matter what, I guess I will have to wait.

Your welcome. I'm here to please.

Haha. Yeah don't call the UCs they don't want to hear from you.

From what I understand, Wake has more people in their "Top Interview Pool" then they can actually interview. That being said, I don't know often they contact people regarding interviews, so I'm sure they do utilize other pools (otherwise there'd be no reason to leave you hanging). Good luck!

Of all the school's I've called they have been the nicest. Mount Sinai person was nice too.

Feel free to PM me with questions about Wake. As long as they're not admissions related. That's already been covered (call them). Cheerio.

I just called them. They said that my file was complete and they would contact me sometime up until March. :scared: :scared:

I have fairly good stats. What is going on?

BTW, for those of you getting interviews now what kind of stats do you have?

i just called them 30 min ago and was told i was in the 'interview pool' - i was also told that they're completely booked this fall, and that i would need to call after 1/1/07 to schedule my interview.

i'm a reapplicant, this time with several interviews, but still angry over this. there should be some level of transparency to the admissions process, but to discover "tricks" like this, only by reading posts on SDN, really puts my sense of professionalism into disarray. did my action of calling them push my timeline ahead, or would they have given me some inkling as to the interview offer before 1/1/07 anyway??? from my first application attempt for 2005 admission, i know the earlier an interview is, generally the better. often, a month or two's difference in time makes a significant difference in admissions chances. who knows whether i would have been able to schedule an interview for this fall had i called sooner...

a school says "no, we'll contact YOU" on their website and online status checker, yet their de facto policy screams otherwise. how is this fair to those out of the loop?

i haven't been checking SDN that much the past few months, but now that this has happened, i guess i'll have to go back to being the crack addict mouse clicker...

big deal, everyone is in the interview pool...not everyone from there gets interviews though

ok, let's clear this up...I just received an email from them, and I am in the "top interview pool" as well. What does this mean????? Does it mean that if I call in late December, as they said I should, I am guaranteed an interview? This is confusing.

Silly Question, but what do you say when you call?

Yea just called and got "looks like your file is complete and they have everything that they need. Bye bye...."

I guess no luck here!
