A number of schools now have students on the interview process. While nearly everyone remembers to write a thank you card or e-mail to the faculty/adcom member, remember to ASK for your student-interviewer's email and followup with a thank you. They can also be useful later when you attend that school, asking about old exam material, notes, etc..

i've had ADCOM members call my cell to clarify feedback on my interviewfeedback so i know they pay attention to what i'm writing.

I'm just rather surprised about this. I mean, if I were on the school's admission staff, I'll be interested in the interview feedback, but to CALL someone to ask about the comment...that's a bit too much...especially the comments are meant to be Anonymous (That's why they can be more honest)

Just checking, but what part of that is the "how to get into medschool"?

Do you ask the interview personally for their email, the secretary, or who?

you ask the student interviewer for their contact information just before you say goodbye.

in many schools the student feedback can make or break you.

Are you sure that is what he meant? I got the impression that he writes up a review after an interview with a student (he is a student interviewer?), and sends his evaluation to the AD COM who will contact him if they are confused over any part of his eval, so he has to be careful to make the eval easy to read and understand...

i think you guys are misreading his post. I think C_W got it right. He means that the adcoms will contact the student interviewers and ask them to elaborate on the interview he/she had with the interviewee.

I do think that most of us take all interivews seriously whether it is a faculty member or student.

along with that, i think the original poster was trying to make the point that adcoms take student interviewers so serious that they would go out of the way to call the stu interviewer for further clarification.

its probably true at specific schools. and i think all of us would take any kind of interview seriously to begin with.

i think student feedback varies from school to school. some people here have 2 faculty members interview them, some people have a faculty member and a student interview. in this case, the student interview is worth exactly as much as the faculty interview.

i didnt realize the upenn student interview was representative of the entire student interviewing coalition at the 100+ other medical schools across the nation.

it is true that the student interview can have a great affect at some schools in your chance of gaining admissions or being placed on a good WL. i took my student ones as seriously as my faculty ones. i know they defintely helped me at davis and msu.

Thanks to those who clarified my post, someone owes someone $5. I hate all of you who make my first post such a miserable experience but let me attempt to clarify.

I was posting as a Student Interviewer for Drexel. not an interviewee.

JMWalker - I always thought the drexel student interview was just to weed out the social maladjusted but since interviewing the past 2 years, I've realized that student feedback does make a difference.

The fact that I have received more calls from the admissions office than thank you cards indicates to me two things. 1. The interview does matter. 2. Most applicants don't think it does. So, extend the basic courtesy of a card.

Why do you guys make everything so difficult here?

edit: re: the topic is inaccurate.
you're getting into medschool on your own merits, obviously. but there are countless other people who are equally qualified. it can boil down to your acts of courtesy -- such as a thank you card to someone that may or may not have bearing on your interview. I think that much is self explanatory. I don't understand why SDN people seem to have such a hard time with this obvious statement.

I am sorry you think that we're being dififcult. That wasn't my intention in my own post at the top. However, I'd still like to know what part of your post included information on how to get into medical school considering that was the topic of your post. In addition, I really don't think sending thank you cards to anyone at all is going to get you into a school, so I hope that's not your advice. Don't student interviewers at Drexel fill out their forms right after your lunch interview anyway?

Ok then - I stand corrected (though I still believe that more than half the decision has already been made before you show up for your interview anyway). Thanks for clarifying your post. I thought that you meant that you were an APPLICANT and the adcoms were somehow finding out your number from interviewfeedback.COM and asking about your interview, which seemed odd.
