just a few thoughts after I took naplex last month and passed with 120:-
- i used Shargel for my basic revew (i read about 50% of the book from cardio till the end and skipped biotech, PK , etc)
-if you know anyone that signed with rite aid, their review book is AWESOME
-me and my friends studied together and we used different books - shargel, APHA, rite aid's - we found out that each book may miss out a few topics (sometimes bgi topics) so no single reference is perfect - yet AphA is the worst, i think their annual update is merely copy and paste, but their practice questions are worth spending time on
-definitely need to know the class and MOA of each agent
-coverage of abx, and side effects of super abx
- po to IV conversion in select abx - those with dose ratio 1 to 1, e.g. linezolid, etc
-unique adverse effect(s) of each agent (esp chemo + HIV)
-math: mEq, ANC, BSA, mole and molecular weight, MAP, unit conversion, drip rate, isotonicity, osmo
-properties of BB
-properties of antiarrhythmics
-common causative pathogens in common IDs
-DOC(s) of STDs
-2007 was a big year for HIV, make sure you know the new classes and agents
-i think CF, sickle cell anemias, breast, prostate cancers, ADHD, HIV are important topics to go thru too
- I got a few questions on stat and medical supplies - but i really wouldnt worry too much about them..lol
PM me if you need further help, i have some pdf handouts from my friends, but they are long that's why I did not read them. Good luck!!
ps, trust your instincts, everytime i change my 1st pick I screw up...lol
