Hi,
so I just figured out that at my school there will be a committee that will write me a letter to send to medical schools after they interview me. What are your experiences with this and what would be most helpful to prepare?

My school did a pre-med committee letter as well. Mine were one-on-one interviews with people from the physics department and from the philosophy department. Lasted about an hour. Mostly questions about my family/upbringing, when i first considered medicine, traced the evolution of my desire to be a doc, have i looked into what being a doc really entails, and what I've done for fun/ what i'm interested in. Seemed like they were mostly trying to get a feel for who I was as a person

My committee interview had two interviewers and it was pretty casual conversation. They asked me about activities that stood out for me in both high school and college, physician shadowing, and volunteering at the hospital. No hard questions, no grilling, no pressure. There were also just a few administrative things like getting them a final list of schools and technicalities about getting the letter entered correctly in AMCAS. Like the last person said, it seemed like they mostly just wanted to get to know me.

Glad to hear everyone had such great experiences. One of mine was. The other one was basically my interviewer ripping apart the autobiographical sketch that I supplied him with. I decided to make the best of a bad situation, and his comments ended up being. I took his recommendations into account when formulating my personal statement. My advice would be to just go in there and do your best, being sure to ask for feedback on everything. At this point it is unlikely that a bad interview will hurt you, so concern yourself more with your grades.
