I purchased a cheap $3 watch at Walmart to wear on MCAT day that counts down. I read on a forum there is a way to cut-the-wire inside a watch so the timer doesn't sound but it continues to work and count down. Does anyone know how to do this? I have taken the back off the watch, but I don't have any idea what to do next. Anyone know how?

if its like the timer I used, there will be a flat metal disc that is the speaker and two wires will be connected to it. all you have to do is rip off the wires and thro away the disc.

I have a timex watch and taking the battery in/out several times eventually shut off all sound on the watch. I think I was just lucky.
Most watches don't have the wires that timers do though, so you might want to get a big old timer if the battery trick doesn't work.

A countdown watch for $3!!! What kind of watch is it Marydee? I've been looking for one that countsdown, but the only one I found was a timex for $80. I don't have a walmart near me (or far from me either) so I was wondering if I could find it online. What's the name of it?
