I was wondering if it was possible for a US citizen who went to a Caribbean medical school like SGU or AUC to be elidge or receive some form of military scholarship like the HPSP? If not, is there a possibility to apply for a military residency or take part in the military in some fashion?

The search feature works well.

No to HPSP for Caribbean. No to military until you have completed at least your intern year and have an unrestricted license, and even then there is very little chance for an AMEDD direct commission to a military PGY2 position.

Edit: Clarus - go search and read the military forum for your questions. When you have a US Med School acceptance, DO or MD, go see a Health Care Recruiter. Your UG/Post Bacc GPA and MCAT though will likely prevent HPSP. Have you retaken all classes lower than B to fully prep for DO? If you choose Caribbean MD come back and ask your questions about joining the military after you are ECFMG Certified having matched to a US residency.

HPSP and military residencies are only available to students who attended US medical schools. That means that Carib and foreign grads are out of luck. You can always join after residency or become a contractor if you want to take care of soldiers. Good luck.

If military offered .mil residencies with long commitments to carrib students we would have little to no financial incentives as the line would be out the door
