Hey guys, I'm looking into the Health professions Scholarship program right now, it's so tempting obviously since it pays your entire tuition and pays you on top of that. However, I'd like some advice from some who have gone through this or have looked into it pretty well. Does the program have any bearing ont he specialty or the residency program you go into? Is the pay when you're in the army (after residency) comparable to being a civilian doctor? Do these doctors usually serve more than the 4 years in the military, or do they normally serve the 4 and leave? Is there really a big effect on the future career of the doctor? Basically, I'm just worried about any negative "hidden" effects of the scholarship and military commitment. thoughts?
