So I got the MCAT scores back
P=11
B=12
V=6 (????)
W=R
GPA:3.97

I haven't live in the US my entire life, but am fluent in both English and Persian. And the primary lang spoken at home has always been Persian. My writing shows that I can communicate effectively but maybe the stuff the verbal tests is still a weakness for me. My Physics and bio show I can read science material critically. My top choice was Harvard just because I love the area and the curriculum, but I don't know if I have a shot with these stats. Should I still apply, or retake in August (can i bring up the verbal in 2 months)??? Is Harvard a long shot??Thanks!!

A 6 on the verbal section will hurt your application for a top-tier school, though you have impressive scores and a kick-ass GPA. I would talk with the school and/or your pre-med advisor. You may still have a chance, but I'd guess that you'll have to take the MCAT again. 🙁

oreo, from a fellow student with the EXACT struggle, let me tell you: i know how you feel right now. you can see on my MDapps link that I got 7 on verbal, 14 on ps, 11 on bs, Q in writing and was like WTFFFFFF. I also speak a different language at home with my parents so that could be it. from my research, people do get in with low verbals, but the road is tough. especially with a high GPA, its possible. For me, I didn't believe I could improve my verbal in 2 months and didn't want to risk dropping my science scores. I wanted to do EDP anyways so after contacting the school admissions director, i have applied. if that doesnt work, im going to hone in on verbal for 6 months until next aprils mcat.

Thanks for the input!! I guess I'll take a chance and apply now, my state school says I have a pretty good chance of getting in so I'll risk it. Worse comes to worse, I'll retake next year and continue trying to bring up my verbal from now till then. Thanks again!!
