I was just reviewing my personal statement and noticed the last word is chopped off. My application has already been processed. Anyone else have this happen to them? Am I finished, or is it not as big as I think it is? My stats are 3.7, 30Q. Can I still get interviews? Thanks a lot.

Chill.

I have nightmares about these sorts of things. But then I got to thinking about what it would be like if I were an adcom. I'd be reading your essay and at the ends I would say to myself "hmm, word missing". And then a split second later I'd be saying to myself "nice essay" or something. A second after that I don't even think I would remember your cut off word.

How often to you read national news articles with missing words or extra words. You notice it, sure. But it does NOT get in the way of your impression of the article unless they are all over the place.

I know you are freaking out. And I know it will take more than my words to help you. But, seriously--it's Ok to chill about this.

BTW, I have the same stats as you. Thoroughly middling. We'll be fine.

If not having that one word in your personal statement is the only thing that keeps you out of medical school, then please call the health care advisor at my college and let him know what it is. It would make his job so much easier.

If I was you I would not give it a second thought.

Hey, I have sort of the same problem; AMCAS cut off the last two characters of my essay - "climbin" instead of "climbing. I freaked out about it a little at first, but after one of my med school friends practically smacked me upside the head, I realized that I was being a little OC. So chill, don't worry about it... and I'll see you at interviews!!! Woohoo!!
