I know we hate AMCs, but this could be even worse?

Humana started as a nursing home company and owned several hospitals in distant past before becoming an insurance company. Not sure what to make of practice purchase but not surprised.

Once Walmart and AMC's take up enough market that I have to join them or a bad job....I'm retiring.

Not saying you are wrong. More remarking how f’ed up the current lack of regulation is.
I speculate it will make those practices “ok” jobs with “decent“ benefits and the only real kicker is that you get to live in Florida (which we all know has its pros and cons)

pro: no income tax, can do crimes and shelter everything in the value of your home
con: ... everything else?

We had a Humana hospital in my hospital back in the day. Of course n=1 and who knows the circumstances, but it was one of the worst in the region. Marginal medical staff and most of the US-trained folks were “untouchables” with multiple DUIs/lawsuits.

When it was bought by the local evil empire hospital conglomerate, it was slowly closed and turned into a free standing ED and offices. Years later, it’s awful reputation continues.
