I just watched the 11 O'Clock news and they are calling for Charley to be a Category 1 hurricane (a cat 2 when it hits Fla) roughly 75 miles south of Charleston, SC mid-day on Saturday. The models are predicting Charleston to be on the right hand quadrant as it passes just to our west as a cat 1 huricane sometime Sat. Night. I know it's still a few days out and these models change but this looks ominous for my MCAT in Charleston, SC on Sat. I can't miss this date as I'm applying this year and need my score before deadlines!

If the worst case scenario happens, and the MCAT is cancelled, how soon will there be a makeup? Does anyone know what the protocol is with respect to makeups?

I woud imagine that if the Charleston (and perhaps other cities..Jacksonville?) MCAT were cancelled and we knew in advance, they would give us the option of driving to say, TN or something and take it there...one would hope.

wow!!! So they'd actually cancel it and have a makeup? That sucks so bad.

Did someone say last August's MCAT was during the blackout on the eastern seaboard? Well that was a Thursday but i don't think everyone had power even on Saturday.

Yup,

My Mcat last august was cancelled. It was in Cleveland (supposedly where the blackout started). Didn't find out that it was cancelled until I showed up to the testing center. They reschedule it for about 4 weeks later. The power was going on and off the entire weekend. They weren't sure if they would have lights or whatever for the entire testing day.

Anyways, good luck with the MCAT.

Was it still a 2 month wait for your scores or did they speed that up?

that totlaly sucks...all tha tanxiety for nothing and then to hav eto do it all over a month later

was anyone else allowed to take it other than those whose tests were cancelled due to the blackout?

Well, I never took the retest (I just took my MCAT's this April). Though from my friends that took it later.........I believe they all got it at the same time as the rest of the test takers nationwide.

No, no one else but the cancelled test takers were allowed to test later (I think 2nd week of September). I wasn't able to take the retest as I had plans to be out of town that weekend and they were plans I had made a long time ago; ones I couldn't break even for the MCAT.

Yah, no doubt, it was a weired feeling that morning when I got there. I was all juiced up for the test and everything. Raced to the test site, only to find everyone waiting outside. You could tell something was up. Kinda of a let down. Glad I took it this April though, did well enough.

Good Luck,
