So, as I'm studying I have some confusion about mild hypothermia. In big blue Jensen states that 33 C effects are HTN, tachy, increased CO, increased O2 consump and hyperventilation.

Normally, he has references but doesn't concerning this. Everywhere else I look: Barash, Baby Miller, Roizen etc I cannot confirm any of this. Furthermore, O2 consumption is supposed to dec by 10%/C degree drop.
Is this drop from 36 degrees? I guess it would be since below 36 is hypothermic.

Can anyone clear this stuff up? I don't have access to Big Miller btw.
Thanks!

If you are non paralyzed (assumed by hyperventilation) and shivering ) O2 consumption goes up. I believe O2 consumption decreases by 7% per degree otherwise.

shivering in the non-anesthetized pt increases myocardial oxygen demand by 400% or thereof. sources that i've read state 300-500% increase.

Yeah, if you're shivering all that stuff goes up, but in Big Blue it only states the effects as physiologic effects at 33 degrees C. No mention of shivering.

Also, MAC decreases 5-7%/degree.

These manifestations must occur in non-anesthetized patients, right?
