The vaunted phone call came today... and this former banana slug is about to join the ranks of the anteaters, class of 2006!:)
There is movement on the UCI waitlist, for all those still holding out. I can't believe my good fortune... interviewed on April 25, waitlisted May 16 and now, July 16... I get brought in from the cold dreariness of waitlist limbo into the warm arms of a planned community and the year-round sun of Orange County. Out of all the schools I interviewed, I got waitlisted at 3 UC's and just 5 hours ago I thought I lost all hope. But now I am actually going to be a doctor!!!
To everyone still waiting without prior acceptances, stay hopeful and don't think about it... by the time you've put it out of your mind, you'll get in.

The banana slug is the school mascot of UC Santa Cruz.

A banana slug is a large yellow slug (full-grown ones are maybe 6 inches long) that live in redwood and other damp coastal forests here in northern California (and maybe farther north too, I'm not sure).

To a City on the Hill resident, the banana slug is more than just a mascot...:)

According to my orientation in the biology department at UC Santa Cruz, banana slugs are wholly unique in several ways:

First, they're really really yellow. Believe me, of you see one you won't forget it. Or if you're a predator, you won't want to eat it.

Second, they're hermaphroditic according to season and population densities.

Third, they're bisexual.

Fourth, they have the longest and largest genitalia of any slug species.

I have no idea why we were told that:laugh: .

Does anyone know what the housing situation is like in/around Irvine? I'm pretty sure I'm not getting into on-campus housing for a good year or more, and I'm none too pleased with the rumors of $1200 1 bedrooms. BTW, anyone else get in this late into the game and also iso housing? Please share :) .
