Well, I talked to a "specialist" today, if you can call them that. I submitted my application on 7/7, and there has been no red X's or movement to verify. I asked them what's up? He said that there are thousands of apps that havent' been verified. He said that they are just finishing up June, they have that first priority. They should be starting on July probably next week. (I've heard this one before)
They said that they had originally said 6-8 weeks, but it is taking longer. He seemed pretty frustrated by the system to. Nice guy, but I still feel I got the run around.

Let's hear how many of us subitted in early july and still haven't been verified!
Raise your hands!! (that means post a reply)

Sorry they havent verified your application yet. I certified and submitted my application on 8/13 and was verified yesterday on 9/18. I would recommend you atleast send out paper copies of your application to the schools you are applying to. Many schools are interviewing and offering conditional acceptances...
So dont wait...

No, I have received lots of secondaries and an interview, but those have been off of unverified applications. I wrote a letter to the AAMC and AMCAS and hopefully that will get things rolling.

Applicants should now realize that medical schools have started to opt for conditional acceptances. So it is not the verification, but rather possession of your file that matters.
Anyone agree with me?

Well, that'd be all good if all the schools were going ahead with unverified applications. But, some places, like Stanford, are not. I submitted on 7/20 and I haven't heard anything. I've emailed AMCAS a few times, nothing. I tried calling today on my lunch break, but the hold time was longer than break, so I had to hang up. I'm really tired of this, especially since people who submitted after me are already getting interviews and stuff. It's really frustrating, and I don't really know what to do.

Anyhow, had to vent a little. Sorry my first post here is such a negative one.

I absolutely agree. There is really NOTHING you can do about the AMCAS situation...for the most part you are at their mercy. The one thing that you CAN control is completing and submitting the other parts of your application (LOR, secondary, application fee, unverified copy of AMCAS) to the schools. For schools like Stanford you'll have to hope and pray that AMCAS gets your app done ASAP. Good Luck!

Actually there are alot of schools waiting for AMCAS. Oregon sent out secondaries, but is going to wait till they get the verified AMCAS application from AMCAS to do anything with those secondaries.

Also West Virginia University is going to totally wait until they get the verified application from AMCAS. They told me all they have is my name bibl info. they will not do anything till AMCAS gets their head out of their butts and verify applications.

I don't care at this point. I have asked, begged, demanded, had my lawyer send them a letter, but to no avail. At this point my hands are tied. Dameon Thompson the all alusive one had one of his people call me last week and assure me my appl would be processed this week.

He said to me "I see we have been telling you that for the past 4 weeks and I told Dameaon how can you expect me to tell her that again. He scowled at me and said tell her 1 more week. I really didn't want to call you and tell you the same old line, but I must do what my boss tells me too."

He also said if Dameon did nothing but return phone calls for 24 hours a day he might be done phoning all who left messages for him in 3 months."

That's all I have to report on AMCAS. I am thrilled to have gotten 5 out of 7 secondaries. UNC hasn't sent me anything, neither has WVU for reasons stated above.

My secondaries so far are as follows.....
EVMS
VCU/MCV
Oregon
Ohio State
Hawaii (they sent a post card saying I would get the secondary in the near future)

Peace to the nation and the world!!!!!!!!!!!

I submitted on 7/16. As far as I can tell, AMCAS doesn't even know they have mine. :)

Like I said earlier, I did it on 7/20. I've heard, via email, that they have my transcripts...but nothing else.

submitted my AMCAS app 7/29, I have yet to see them touch my file yet  How unfair!

submitted 7/5. transcripts and everything all confirmed to be there. but, not even one change yet :(

submitted 07/01 and nothing. It seems there is nothing we can say or do to make sure our stuff gets verified. I haven't yelled at them yet but it might be good to give them a piece of my mind. At least I'll feel better for a little bit. With all of these august people getting verified already i wonder if it would just be faster to resubmit and certify and see if the new date then will get us verified faster? Nothing against the august submitters, but i find it increasingly difficult to read there ecstatic posts about being verified.

sundevil1:

I totally understand how you feel. I submitted 7/10 and last week just found out one of my labmates that submitted in August was verified. He asks me almost everyday if I've been verified. All I can say is not yet. I'm glad that at least some apps are being verified, but he is only reminding me how frustrating this whole AMCAS process has been for me and for many others. And since AMCAS apparently lost my transcript, I don't think I'll be verified anytime soon!

Ditto.

I didn't submit super early, but did so on 7/31 after three weeks of trying to certify my application. On every computer I tried, the program would log me out whenever I tried to do the final submission!

Of course, its been seven weeks and no certification. I have called and done everything possible to ascertain when it would actually get done. However, I feel even worse for a friend of mine who was able to submit the 22nd of June and still hasn't been verified...
