Here's the problem: Last semester (my first) I took 19 credits worth of classes:

Gen. Chem. 1: A
Physics 1: A
College Algebra: A
Gen. Psych: A
English Comp. 1: A
First Aid: A
College Forum: P (Pass of Fail class)
( 😛 to everyone who said I'd flunk back in January)

This summer session I'm taking 2 classes worth 6 credits:

Western Civ. 1
English Comp 2

This fall I plan on taking 18 credits:

Gen. Chem. 2
Gen. Bio. 1
Calc. 1
American Lit.
Developmental Psych.

Firstly, are 6 summer credits during the first half of the summer enough? Should I take another 6 during the second half? Do you think the adcoms will question this? Also, since I plan on startng research and shadowing next year, would they question why I am only doing light volunteering this summer?

Also, should I be taking 19 or more credits next semester, since I did so last semester? If I don't, would the adcoms think that I am slacking off? Maybe I should add another 1 credit class like basketball or something.

The reason I am taking a heavy course load is because I started college in the middle of the year and I don't want to waste a whole year when it comes time for application time. Thanks for any input.

How are you goin from algebra into calc??? Smells kind of fishy. Pass/fail courses are also a bad idea if the credits count for your BS/BA.

I think that as long as you are taking 15-16 credits you wuill be fine. The amount of credits you are taking is much less important than WHAT classes you aew actually taking.

My advisor gave me permission to jump from algebra to calc without precalc because I did very well in my algebra class. She told me it's done fairly often. I looked at the material for calc and it doesn't seem too bad.

Thanks for the advice.

Oh and the pass/fail class is required of all first time matriculated students.

Hope yoo've had trig or have some knowledge of it, or ther might be some B's coming up.

The amoutn is also less importnat than the grades you get.....(i.e. taking 5 science classes with all B's looks worse than taking 2 science classes with both A's)
