I don't mean to degrade your A in any way. I just remember all the bitching I used to hear from my science major/pre-med friends in undergrad, "OH this is the hardest class ever, if you only knew what we go through, I should get two degrees for having to take this." blah blah blah.

O.Chem ain't easy but it certainly is not that difficult. I thought calculus classes were worse.

Still though an A on any test is worthy of a good deal of happiness...enjoy it .

...and I cruised through calc (and a math degree) but I had my fanny handed to me in OChem.

I'd pay cash money for that A at this point. Good on ya.

Thanks for the encouragement. The class is in theh 30-40 student range. It's one of those classes that starts full and gets weeded down as the semester progresses.

Study every day for an hour or two, when you don't understand something, get help asap. Do as many practice problems as you can.

Congrats I also pulled an A on my first organic test this past week. Not sure about the rest of the class though.

30-40 students? LUCKY YOU...

There's 2 sections of organic chem for my class. each with approx 225 students..so there's close to 500 total.

And the curves in my class are pretty crazy. Average on the first exam was 60% and my professor said the averages go down each test and will be in the 40% range on the next exam. At least an A in the course is a 75% and a B is around 60%

My professor let us use a model kit as well. I premade a model of cyclohexane and put together a few other substituents like alcohols and methyl groups. We had 2 hours for our exam and I used every minute of it, so anything that will help save you time is well worth it in my opinion.

just curious, as i never used a model kit before, what good is it in the test? is this a chirality thing? I loved organic chemistry. One of the few.

That's how my orgo was. We had about 500 people per. It's hell to ask a question in that atmosphere, and forget about actually talking to the professor. There was a time schedule for students to make appointments to talk to the TA for your last name designation.

Crap, I ended up with a lousy B in Micro likely because I spent too much time on Orgo.

Uggg.

lousy B? Why would you be upset over a B? If anything, you should be happy with that as well
