I got my first interview invite today from Kansas!
Great timing seing as how I got my post secondary rejection from Drexel yesterday.

Anyone have advice for a first timer? Anyone who interviewed at KU would be great but all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on your interview, danswu. Sorry, I don't have any advice for you (I haven't attended an interview yet) other than the trite, but true "be yourself" everyone's been giving me.

If you know that already, you could try doing a search on "interviews" on this site. Also, try to the interview feedback portion of studentdoctor.net. Not quite interviewfeedback.com, but it'll do for now.

Best,

C.

waahoooooooo

I'm a first timer too so i don't have much to share with you...but waaahoooo anyway.

Anything that you want to know in particular? They ask some weird ethical and hypothetical questions, so just take the time to think of a logical approach before answering. Also, read the secondary questions and be ready to elaborate/defend the answers you gave.

Good luck,
DALA

PS., Bring a book that is relaxing for you to read, there is allot of waiting around on interview day.

It may sound like dumb, regular-old advice, but there is a theme underlying all med school interviews: They simply want to know about you. So the best advice is BE YOURSELF. Remember that strange questions are meant to throw you off guard- don't get thrown off guard. Don't be afraid to say "I don't know" to obscure questions.

Congrats!! Although I am definitely glad I'm worrying about residency apps instead of med school ones now, I certainly know how getting that interview letter feels better. The interview is very important, but as someone else posted, it truly is just a time for them to get to know you, which gives you the opportunity to truly be yourself. They tend to give you an odd question or two, but they are only to see what your thought process is. Other than being able to think on your feet, know why you want to be a doctor and be able to explain it without hesitation; know your strengths and weaknesses--in other words, know who you are and be able to communicate that. They are not malignant during interviews at KU, so don't worry about being asked about something medical you shouldn't know about yet or anything.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out...
