Does having a B- in Bio 101 look bad in admissions?

It's funny; I get an A in PChem, but I can't beat the mean in Bio 101

:scared:

Waaah I'm gonna go cry...

Uggh, my dance prof. accidentally put down an F for my ballet grade this semester and can't fill out the paperwork to fix it until after I have to send my grade report to my state school. But do I start a thread about it? and say OHHHHH I HAVE A GRADE TO REALLY WHINE ABOUT, AN F AN F!!! OH AIEEEEE, MY LIFE IS DOOMED!!!!

its a B-, suck it up. Not to be insensitive.... but... yeah, no i'm gonna be a little bit. its a B- suck it up

It looks like a b on admissions, thats what it looks like. But I hear that only people with straight A's get into med school. *rolls eyes*

here, if it makes you feel better I have straight A's in my sciences, i'm a biochemistry major and 28S mcat and i only got 2 interviews. So see? mcat's matter more.

NOW STOP STARTING THREADS WHOSE ONLY PURPOSE ARE TO WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE . THIS IS NOT WORTH WHINING ABOUT!!!!
Go feed the homeless or something, the world does not revolve around your B-. Worry about a D if you must

well put. mcats are a bitch and they actually do matter alot. I've never gotten a B- but if I ever do, I imagine it will be no big deal. I also have no idea what I'm saying cause I"m drunk as hell. good night.

Please eject that stick out of your bum and realize that graduating with 4.0 overall kind of looks creepy...(Nothing against you people, you work hard, you just have to work a bit harder to prove that you are, well, normal)

Seriously, relax, it's not a C. And hey, if it was a C it's not the end of the world. I have more than one C. I got in. You say you got an A in PChem, chances are you have a nice collection of A to set of this B.

Balance, it's all about balance. Arghghg.......

I suppose this is part of the reason why med schools want you to have EC and hobbies, to avoid those students with freakishly pale skin from sitting at home all day and studying.

i am constantly frightened at the lack of common sense and connection with reality that some pre-meds display (or fail to display.)

YOU CAN GET B-'S AND GET INTO MED SCHOOL.
YOU CAN GET C-'S AND GET INTO MED SCHOOL.
hell, i have a D, 5 C's, and a dropped-while-failing grade on my application and i've had three interviews so far!
let me say that again, but in capital letters:

I'VE HAD A D, FIVE C'S, AND A DROPPED-WHILE FAILING GRADE ON MY APPLICATION AND I'VE HAD THREE INTERVIEWS SO FAR!

I applaud this post. 👍

See, I agree with several previous postings.
Whining does not do any good.
However, there are a lot of misconceptions about grades to get into med schools.
REMEMBER, Schools look at your grades as a whole. A grade B- is not bad. Just keep in mind you want to balance it with As and other Bs.
I am assuming you are starting your premed career because it's bio 101.
Just remember not to make your grade into a trend.
If you keep getting low grades you won't get in, if you improve to As or a mix you'll be fine.
Also, the MCATS are EXTREMELY important.
I got a C and a B in orgo and a C in biochem, everything else is As (bios and chems, phys etc) and got a 32 in my MCAT.
I already received three acceptances and a half tuition scholarship.

Bottom line.
The whole picture matters the most.
Make sure a low grade is an isolated event.
Do well in your mcats.
Write a KILLER (I can't emphasize this enough) personal statement.
Carry yourself well in interviews. 🙂

It only looks bad if you have a bunch of them.
If you are applying to a state school, or a middle tier school, don't worry about it.
I had two Bs in my science classes, and I got accepted way back in September.

Spend your time studying instead of worrying.

good luck,

I, along with 230+ people actually viewed this page. What a waste!!!

Why do I waste my time with ****** posters??? Why do people feed these people with stupid "chin-up buddy" posts???

Mods, make another forum for people to whine about grades and crap. I know people worry about getting into school, but this kind of stuff crosses the line. Grow up OP. I guarantee you that if you keep this up, you will fall faster than a house of cards when you have to fix a pneumothorax on the spot in the ER. Why do parents baby their kids so much??? I can't take this anymore, seriously. My future colleagues are gonna be like this??? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

BTW, if you think I'm over reacting, look at yourself in the mirror first.

2 B-s, 2 Cs here. 5 interviews. quit your f-ing complaining for crying out loud. we're ALL sick of it. seriously.

You're an idiot. You're exactly the type of neurotic weirdo I never want to be my doctor. I have two B-'s, and I've interviewed at 3 top tens.

You know what's going to help you get better grades? Whining. It always works.
You need to get out into the real world; if you're lucky maybe you'll come down with a bad case of The Crooked Booty.

Merry Christmas.

Posts like this make me hate premeds. Counting the days until I will permanently move to the Allo forum, and then get angry about the trivial bull**** they post all the time.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday wishes for everyone!

Also, I demand that we open a SEPARATE forum for these stupid threads.
NOW. Please?

You're not trollbaiting, you're trolling. Do you see the distinction?

I'm adding this to my "what most annoys you" list. Troll, I mean Slide, Yes, YOU are trolling, not trollbaiting.

you, troll, you!

Woops I need to review my trollbaiting vocabulary in the future. This is what I love about the internet though; you can't tell seriousness from sarcasm.

Sorry I just had to make a dumb post to see the reactions of everyone. It's funny to see everyone's bitter side.

Ha! Beatcha Mota! I have 5 W's, a C, and 1 B-. That being said, I've been successful in this interview process, and no one has asked me about any of my non-A grades because no one really cares.
