I knew you would hear from at least one of those dream schools you applied to, with your stats (and sparkling personality, of course  ). I am so happy for you -- I was getting nervous along with you. I'm in the Big Apple right now, and I'm so glad I checked in just in time to find out!!! :D :D :D :D :D When is your interview? Best of luck, although I doubt you'll need luck!! :)

P.S. Don't forget to post on both schools requesting interviews threads......... :p

Yayyy! Good luck on your interview!!! :D :) :D

Congrats, and by the way, great Simpson's reference!

Congratulations :) and goodluck for your interview.

Thanks, all! And I'll take my own advice, SMW, and post it to both threads right now.

Haha! I'm so excited... LOL Just when I thought my $1000 investment in AMCAS and secondaries was all for nothing... :D :D

For those who are still waiting, my application was completed January 4th, although I did submit it back in November. My interview is March 1st, which is the last day available. My stats are elsewhere on this site - I hate posting them over and over again. :D PM me if you want to know.

Off to book a flight... :D

hey congrats!!! did you find out via email? or did you check the status site? i'm still anxiously waiting...

Oh, and SMW, hope things are going great at your interview! Have fun with your friend this weekend... :D I only wish I had nearly as much experience at this as you do... :D Thanks for all the help so far! You've been so great!

And lollipop - I kept on checking the status site, and found out first there. I still haven't gotten the email request.

congrats brandonite! Always feels good to see a fellow Canadian get an interview at Duke! Might I remind you that they offer regionals; it might be a bit expensive to fly from Manitoba down to Rayleigh-Durham, although I think there is a direct flight from TO. Duke loves physicists and mathematicians... you'll do fine!

That is AWESOME brandonite!! Now go down there and knock 'em dead!!!!

Congrats, man. Give 'em hell.

tally up another one for the math crew! woohoo! wow, brandonite I dont think you can understand how happy I am for you. Feels like I'm the one that got the interview and I didn't even apply to Duke. haha

congrats to you too, lollipop. Must've been a beautiful thing to check the site and see that, huh?

Thanks all. And way to go lollipop!

Maybe there'll be a nice math posse hiting Duke next fall... :D

I've never been to North Carolina (actually, never been anywhere on the eastern seaboard other than Florida), so at the very least, it'd be nice to see the place... :D

Yay! I got one too today! Anybody know if we can schedule regional ones? I've heard that it's possible, but the automatic scheduler thing online doesn't seem to offer it openly . . .?

The process of getting a regional interview seems perpetually cloaked in mystery. In some cases they offer you one automatically. In my case I wasn't initially given the option, but I called up and asked them if I could "go regional," and they said yes immediately. And so I did.

Since Duke is close to decision time, they might be more hesitant -- the regional process takes a little longer because they first have to send you a list of names, then you have to make your own arrangements, then your interviewer has to write a report and send it back to Durham, etc. Still, it's worth asking.

And congratulations to all of you. I'm delighted to hear you got interviews here! Good luck and have fun!

:D  :D  :D

Wohoo! Congrats all...it's a good day for SDNers :)

I've been away for awhile, but just wanted to congratulate you--you waited for so long! More is coming! Good luck!

Congrats, fellow Canadian... :D

Hi,

Puke sucks pig pickle in all ways. Those upstarts need to stick to theology...not medicine. They are pretentious pig farmers. I would never want a blue devil to work on my pickle. Futhermore their application was most perturbing...and caused diarrheal discharge.

Well, good luck with that interview. Peace in the middle east. The Big Pickle

Hi,

My other persona took over on that last one...it wasn't really me. I mean it was me but it wasn't the real me.................the me that "IS" right now. Maybe I am also a troll. There are trolls in my head. The trolls are telling me to apply to med school. They motivate me to do things.....

omores and others, do you actually know of people that DID do the regional interview? I've had some up-and-comings ask me about this and I honestly didn't have a clue. Are they generally early or late in the interview process and is it looked upon less favorably?

as for FullO' *ignore the troll, ignore the troll*... nevermind

USeF:

Yes, I did one myself (and it worked, since I'm at Duke now). Quite a few of my classmates went regional as well. As far as I know, they can be any time during the process. Mine was towards the end -- just about exactly a year ago.

For more information about what a regional interview is like, check out this thread.

 :D :) :D

Thanks, Lady, and fellow Canucks... :D I think the giddiness is gone now. :D

Anyway, regarding regional interviews... I didn't really consider them too much - and they were never offered to me. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't offer me a regional interview anywhere near where I live (the middle of nowhere :D ), so I could either fly to Duke, or someplace else equally far away, and it didn't really make sense to fly to Chicago or Minneapolis to interview for Duke medical school... :D

A girl I know who applied to Duke last year was offered a regional interview at Seattle (she is from UBC). But i doubt that Winnipeg will be anywhere close to the location Duke can offer :)

As for regional interview v.s. on-site interview at Duke, there is really no difference as I know a couple people from my undergrad who got into Duke through both types of interviews.
