I have LORs from two oral surgeons but none from a general dentist, is that OK?

So I’ve been working with two oral surgeons for over 2 years now and developed a pretty good relationship with them. I accumulated over 1000 hours of shadowing and DA experience from their office. This is probably my what I’m most proud of in my application.

They are both writing me LORs but is it necessary to get a LOR from a general dentist? I just started shadowing a GP and I am not comfortable at all asking for a LOR so soon for this upcoming cycle. Would I be rejected because I only have LORs from a specialist, and none from a GP?

There are plenty of schools that don’t even require a LOR from a dentist. It seems that most would be fine with it as long as it’s coming from someone with a DDS/DMD. If a school states they want a letter from a dentist, it doesn’t hurt to simply ask them what is acceptable.
I’d be more worried about getting the number of shadowing hours with a general dentist that schools require (I’m not sure if/how COVID has altered these requirements). Luckily you still have time for that though, good luck!

I only got one from an endodontist. It's fine.

that's fine! However, I would urge you to try to get an additional 2 LOR from science professors :)

Would check with the personal schools you want to apply to just to be safe.
