hi everybody

i am going to take the PCAT this coming October and i just started preparing for it like a week ago. i am getting so frustrated, i am not sure that a month will be enough to prepare for the PCAT. i already took both General chem and both Biologies. Do you think i can still make it or it is already too late...
i really apreciate your help, thank you so much....

Relax...I prepared in two weeks...and I had taken gen chem 6 years ago and organic 5 years ago. Get some review books. I used the Barron's book, along with Peterson's PCAT success. I also hear there's a Kaplan book out now, but I don't know anything about it. There were outlines of topics in the review books and I went through all of them, making sure I knew the information before I moved on. For things I knew I'd need to review a second (or third) time, I made notes. The only practice problems I did were a few math, a few chem and a few bio. I probably should have taken a complete simulated practice test, but I didn't. Anyway, with 3-4 hours a day max, I think you can easily get ready in a month. I did 3-4 hours for two weeks, and did very well on the test. Good luck to you...and make sure you focus on anatomy and physiology for the bio section!

For more on the PCAT, do a thread search. You'll learn everything you want to know and then some.

thank you very much OSURXgirl . i feel so much releaved now, i bought the barron's book and i am planning on getting the KAPLAN's book. i am going to follow your advise, i plan on studying aprox.4 hours a day for the PCAT.
i am more relaxed now. thank you very much ...

I would not stress over the PCAT too much if I were you. It is not particularily hard, and does not really accurately depict your ability to do well in a Doctor of Pharmacy program. The PCAT is weighted much less for pharmacy applicants than the MCAT is for prospective medical students. That being said, getting a really low score will not help your application, so keep up with the studying! 🙂

i'm a bit stressed out about the pharmacy school applications. i have a 3.5 gpa and got a composite 68% score on my PCAT. I will be taking the PCAT again this november but i dont know if it will be too late. would i be able to get in anywhere with a 3.5 gpa and 68% score on PCAT???

I think so. For my school, the average was 82. That means that, theoretically for everyone who scored in the high 80s and 90s, that there is someone who scored in the high 60s and 70s. There are also a lot of schools that do not require the PCAT. If you are that concerned, apply to a few of these schools, along with the others.
