I know this has been asked so often, but can someone tell me how low my chances are for Med School?

So here's my stats: Cumulative GPA: 3.396 (These are my Science grades)
Bio 1: B+, Bio 1L: A, Bio 2: A-, Bio 2L: A-

GenChem 1: B+, GenChem 1L: A-, GenChem 2: A-, GenChem 2 L: B

Physics 1: A-, Physics 1L: A Physics 2: B and A (I had the engineering level and the regular level) Physics2 Lab: A

OChem1: C+ then A(retake), OChem 1L: B- OChem 2: A, OChem 2L: B+

Calc1: B+ Calc2: B+ Calc3: C+ Differential Equations: A

Sociology: B+ Psychology: B (I should have had A but the homework online system crashed causing me lose 10% of my grade)

I don't know if these count but P-Chem: B, Quantitative Analysis (a Chemistry course): B

Part 2: Should I retake Calc 3?

I linked all of my grades and semsters they fell in in the Excel file. You can see all of the majorly bad ones fall into the Fall of 2016 semester, when I wasn't premed but was instead Chemical Engineering.

Things don’t look great but it’s possible. Do well on the MCAT, finish your undergrad degree strong with A’s not B’s in science classes, and have good EC’s and LORs.

Thank you for the reply. If you took out my Fall 2016 semester (I had to miss over 20 days of class because I had to be home because of family matters) grades then I think my cumulative GPA shoots somewhere into a 3.55-3.65 range but I haven't run the exact numbers.

Don’t bother running the numbers because they all count. You could try for retroactive withdrawals but I don’t think they give those except for serious reasons. Work hard. Get As and see where you are in a couple of years. Plan on applying after you graduate so all of those As you’ll be earning are included. Work on your ECs and look into DO schools.

What is a retroactive withdrawl?

My Extra-Curricular are as follows:
-Volunteer experience in the ER and Nuclear Medicine
-I will be involved in research in the Chemistry department at my school starting in January
-I'm shadowing several specialties in between now and January 18 (our first day back from break) such as General Surgery, Cardiology, Oncology, Primary Care among others
-I work as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Organic and General Chemistry, though I don't know if this one means much.

Getting accepted is 100% on you. But as of right now, you're weak to OK for MD; fine for DO. Do NOT retake Calculus. Just start getting more As than Bs from now on.

A year - preferably two - of 3.8+ performance and a solid (515+) MCAT could make him quite competitive for MD schools. Dude's not getting into top 20s without something jaw-droppingly awesome.

I'll have to look into the percentiles of MCAT scores as I'm not super familiar with what numbers mean what exactly. I'm not aiming for a Top 20 Medical School. My schools of preference (atleast my top 3 at the moment) are 1. University of Cincinnati (a hail mary), 2. Wright State and lastly 3. Ohio University (a DO school).

I'm in my 3rd year as a Chemistry major so I don't really have two years left. If I were to attain a 4.0 in my coming semester including a retaking of Calculus 3, my science GPA would be a just over a 3.5. I recognize my grades need improvement and I don't feel even a 4.0 is too much for me to attain.

OK, so you might or might not want to look at taking a gap year. If you want to be competitive for a DO school, you'd only need a 508 or so and that 3.5. For MD schools, if you get a 3.8+ from here on out and a 513+ you've got a good shot. Cincinnati? Don't know too much about that. For schools like that, a 515+ and a few hundred hours of hospice volunteering might give you a shot.

OP you have the rest of your life. There is no rule that you have to apply in June. What is your SGPA and cGPA? Have you taken the MCAT? If so what was your score? If not, when are you planning to take it
