i need some help

Hi. I'm applying to dental school this summer. However, I don't know that many people who are pre-dent or know a lot about dental school. I'm having a hard time deciding which schools to apply. Some schools with average GPA slightly lower than other schools' seem to look for a lot of extracurricular activities and stuff. (All I did were volunteering at dental place and some research). I have overall GPA around 3.5-6. Any comments would help ~!

I think you got a really good GPA and with the work experience AND research you should be a lock for acceptance in a dental school, provided your DAT is good enough (~18/18) and you have good interviewing skills.

Since your stats are good, I would NOT waste money on applying to schools you would not attend, i.e location or financial situations, or could not get into, i.e. state schools (most in the South) that accept mostly state residents.

One more thing, keep up the Science GPA! Good luck....

Check the Pre-Dent forum for a similar message and some good replies. As for what schools, I went and got statistics from the pre-health committee at my school of what schools tended to accept graduates of my school. Some had never accepted anyone even though many had applied. I steered clear of almost all state schools of which I was not a resident, they give first choice to all instate applicants. Apply to your top choice, the one you would LOVE to go to but also apply to many that you have a good chance of getting into. The important thing is to get in, it really doesn?t matter where you go, you all end up Dentists.
