Not sure if it's a success story, but the first time I took the MCAT I started at 6 in verbal and climbed to a 10 on practice exams by improving my focus. I combined both EK methods and PR methods in a hybrid of the two approaches. The EK methods seemed crazy at first, but I started to get used to them after a while. I was getting 10s on their stuff by the end. My PR scores were eratic. Sadly, the EK stuff wasn't like my actual MCAT, and their techniques didn't work as well as they did on their passages. I managed to get an 8, but know what to do differently this time to improve back to 10 or 11.
This time I'm back to using a mixture of techniques, having added some of the BR strategies to the pot. I've made it a point to read magazine and journals every day for a half hour to hour. I like the BR stereotyping technique. I like the EK question stem and BR question composite techniques. I like the PR common sense suggestions. No system is perfect and each has good and bad points. I agree with my teacher that says you need to try everything a couple times, even the most absurd suggestions, even if all it does is strengthen your conviction in another method.
Don't take any course's method as the end all be all. Pick out things for yourself from each style and form your own customized hybrid.
