Now I'm stuck with just these four words and I'm sure the brilliant minds at SDN can help me out here.

The list is pretty self explanatory, but if you still need explanation, then maybe you can PM me and I'll explain it to you real slow-like. Now, don't you all shove each other now to reply to this message, there's enough replies for everyone.

Unsual English Words
1. Abbreviation – Why isn’t abbreviation abbreviated?
2. Bombastic – Why is bombastic unnecessarily verbose?
3. Monosyllabic – Why does monosyllabic have five syllables?
4.Palindrome – Why doesn’t palindrome read the same forward and backwards?

If you add a word, please continue with the question format. Now you all play nice, I'll be back.

It is like that, but not quite. It is a deviation. Try to keep it to words who go against their definitions by any means you can find. The funnier the better.

I just got a few more from a bunch of people here and through e-mail, I will try to update so it makes more sense. Also, as Shanster did, try to quote the last addition, remove the quotes, and just create an ongoing list.

Thats awesome. Keep going.

Really, I agree with the above poster. I get the game but it's going nowhere. Just let it die...

bombastic comes from bombast: pretentious inflated speech or writing. So, it's perfectly verbose.

Also, I believe Shaggy transformed its verboseness in his song "Boombastic", because it rhymes with "spastic" and "fantastic", yet retains its pretentious roots.
