Let's say someone gets a call saying their accepted off the WL but they respond that they're not interested. Will AMCAS be notified of the A? Or do schools call informally to protect yield?
Depends on whether or not the school is acting ethically. Once they make the offer, it is an A that should be included in their statistics. What they might do in practice is an entirely other matter, but how much would it move the needle for the school to go to the trouble of messing around with the numbers, though? Does a few points in yield one way or the other really mean anything to anyone -- schools, applicants, rankings?
