If someone who interviewed after me got accepted but I didn't, should I take that as a rejection/waitlist?

Title^. Friend interviewed at the same school as me, and we interviewed one week apart. He received the acceptance call a couple days ago, but nothing on my end. Should I take this as a rejection and move on, or is there still hope?

I think the school should have told you what to expect with decisions. My interviews they always held a meeting at the end to let us know what to expect. I haven’t had one where they were like “if you don’t hear back then that’s a rejection”

Have you heard of my staircase analogy. After the interview, you get a score that places you on one of many steps on a broad staircase. It is obvious that those with scores that put them on the top step will get admitted regardless of the scores of those who come after them whereas others will be in that mushy middle which could result in an offer, or maybe not, depending on the performance of subsequent interviewees. Most of the list won't shake itself out until late winter. Hold on. Don't give up hope.

It's only Oct. You might not have been accepted in this wave, but there's still quite a few left.
