Yeah submitted 8/13, and verified 9/18.
Not too shabby..... But I know many of us PreMeds are having a lot of trouble with AMCAS taking forever with their applicatins. I wonder if it's just luck of the draw ?

I have some red 's and couple of emails from AMCAS but that's it. ahhhhhhhh, how do i know??

Here is the E-mail I received from AMCAS :

Dear AMCAS Applicant,

was verified against your official transcript(s).

Well, you sure picked a fitting title for this thread. I submitted 7/16, and they haven't touched the thing! This means that they had my app for over a month longer than they had yours.

I am glad that you were verified, though. This at least proves that their "specialists" know how to verify our applications.

I must say that while I am happy about my verification, this feeling is trailed with residual disappointment for early submitters who have not been verified. It's just not fair. I have read several threads from very late (late June and August) submitters who have joked about being verified on account of just being "lucky". While I know individuals do not mean any harm with these posts, I ask everyone to please recognize the thousands of early submitters whose applications have not even been touched. I must reinterate that I know we don't mean any harm, however, it is frustrating for uverified individuals to recieve such info. I understand that it is important to post application updates on SDN. It is a necessary action as long as we respect those who have not had our luck. With that said, congrats to those who have been verified and good luck to those who have not.

And if I wasn't pissed off enough yet, I called AMCAS today. Here's the basic conversation:

Me: "Can you tell me why people who submitted a whole month later than me have been verified, but mine hasn't been touched?"

Tameka (My Specialist): "I really don't have an answer for that."

Me: "Well, do you have everything you need for my app?"

Tameka: "Yes, we have everything for you."

Me: "So, what order are they verifying the applications in?"

Tameka: "They're not going in any order."

Me: "So, it's like a lottery, they just verify whichever one they pick out?"

Tameka: "No, they aren't doing it as a lottery."

Me: "So it's not random? Then what order are they going by?"

Tameka: "They're not going by any order."

**I'm thinking, "Isn't that what a lottery is?"**

And, just like the real lottery, I didn't win.

In all honesty...I wish my ap could be in place of those who submittted before me. I feel sorry for you guys, but thought you should know that I submitted late and am verified.

I just got off the phone with AMCAS. After a pathetic conversation with a "specialist" I asked to speak to the supervisor. He gave me the story about verifying by AMCAS ID # and when I asked him when that problem was taken care of he said over a month ago. I told him that I knew of people who submitted in mid August and were verified in the last few days. He "assured" me that nobody was being verified who submitted later than mid July. After a long discussion he agreed to "look into it" and get back to me by Monday. He also gave me the disclaimer that "I can't stand and look over everybody's shoulder to make sure they are going in the correct order." What a wonderful service they provide!
