Let's say you're holding an acceptance at School A and waitlisted at School B. School B calls you and offers you a spot. Is it assumed that you'll take School B over School A since you stayed on its waitlist post May 15th?

Also, as a rule, School B has to call School A to tell them about the acceptance. Do you still have to contact School A and withdraw your name?

You have not entered a legally binding contract until you submit your downpayment to the Medical College. This downpayment is usually about $1000. Until then, you owe nothing to them, and you are not legally obligated to call them to inform them of your acceptance elsewhere.
They will remove you from the list after not hearing from you.

You should notify the offering school you are going elsewhere, people who are now being offered from wait list are on a numbered list as a spot opens up from someone els telling them they are going to somewhere else, they contact the next person and so on, so there are other people on the list waiting and they may be on other lists waiting so this may be their shot at med school. Please let the school know so they can let that person know.
